How To Talk to Robots: A Girls’ Guide To a Future Dominated by AI

EVENT INFORMATION

AI is everywhere. From tracking your spending habits, to creating the latest filter on Instagram to job applications, AI is playing a part in how we all work, live and play. And so, the risk of biased technology is real.

This session features Tabitha Goldstaub, writer and co-founder of CogX, in conversation with Sharmadean Reid, founder and CEO of Beautystack, and Maxine Mackintosh, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Alan Turing Institute and Co-Founder of One HealthTech. The speakers will give you the tools to navigate the current and the future developments in a conscious way. There are enormous benefits of understanding AI, so join us for this fun and jargon-free session to set you up for the future!

“…she’s on a mission to make sure women are given an equal role in it [AI].”’ Grazia on Tabitha.

Tabitha is the author of How To Talk To Robots,  the essential girls guide to Artificial Intelligence, designed to demystify this daunting and male-dominated world. With a warm embrace, Tabitha brilliantly breaks down the ‘tech-bro’ barriers, offering a straightforward introduction into AI.

The book - and this talk - is for everyone – wherever you are in life, and whatever you do, this technology is inescapable and now is your time to make sure AI works for you – and not you for it.

The event will feature a performance by a WOW Sounds artist - don't miss an incredible performance by Kenyan musical and cultural firebrand Muthoni Drummer Queen.

This event will have BSL interpretation and digital captioning.

If you'd like to submit any questions for Tabitha, please email them to hello@thewowfoundation.com with the event title in the subject line.

This event is part of WOW UK Festival 2021, a very special digital programme, featuring groundbreaking In Conversations and interactive workshops. Over three weeks we’ll explore everything from mental health to sex in lockdown, radical childcare to being everything from a grandmother to an artist in a pandemic (or both!). Find out about The WOW Foundation and its work year-round to fight gender inequality here.

For this year’s festival, we are offering audiences the chance to pay what they can for tickets from £1 upwards. If you’re able to pay a higher ticket price, your contribution will include a donation to help WOW continue its work fighting for gender equality all year-round.
